As usual, we come up with a review of events and activities to catch up. Our Technology team was at the tenth edition of the JSConf, November 17-18, in Medellín (Colombia) 🇨🇴. This is the conference to learn about new developments and exchange experiences with those who work with the JavaScript programming language, which we use in our projects.

JP Marín Díaz, the CEO, will participate in two panels of Colombia 4.0 IA Edition, from November 29 to December 1 in Corferias (Bogotá). It is a Ministry of Information Technology and Communications event on digital content in Colombia. Both panels will be on Thursday 30, on the 2nd floor of pavilion 6:

• “The Govtech ecosystem: dynamizer of digital entrepreneurship”, 12:00 m., auditorium 3.
• “Challenges of data analytics”, 4:00 pm, auditorium 2.

Also, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is coming up this November 25. Data is necessary to stop any kind of violence, either for advocacy or to make decisions to help solve this problem. Therefore, today, we bring you several projects that aim to achieve this goal in the region. We also include Datasketch Store designs, making you take socially meaningful data wherever you go.

Safe Internet for Women

The project “Segur@s en línea” of the Instituto Panamericano de Derecho y Tecnología (IPANDETEC) highlights digital gender violence with the survey results in Central America and the Dominican Republic. As well as the project presenting the consequences of violence, it also offers routes of denunciation and seeks to train a regional team for access to justice and digital empowerment.

The Rights of Trans People in Latin America

An interactive map from the Sentiido think tank shows the progress and challenges of legislation on trans people in Latin America. The other side of the map shows the record of transfeminicides, physical violence, and exclusion in access to health, education, justice and employment.

Creations with a Social Meaning

The designs of the Datasketch Store products have also addressed violence against women, but above all, the civil, economic, social and cultural rights we have claimed. The products have shipping throughout Colombia, but we hope to have the option of international shipping soon. 🚚

• 👩🏾‍🎤 “The fault was not mine” was inspired by the feminist performance “Un violador en tu camino” by the collective LAS TESIS, transforming the lyrics of the chant into a visual wave.
• 🪜 “Ladder of Rights” represents the evolution of women’s rights in Colombia, such as voting, education, pregnancy protection and decriminalization of abortion.
• 🟰 “Let’s Close the Gap” concerns the disproportion between men and women in the Colombian Congress.
• 🏛️ “Women in Congress” shows the representation of women in congresses worldwide and highlights progress toward parity.
• 👩🏾‍🎨 “Emblematic Women” pays tribute to 43 outstanding Latin American women in various fields with a pinacogram celebrating the struggle for rights, equality and recognition.
• 🎮 “Gender Diversity in Video Game Developers” highlights the evolution towards a more diverse video game industry, with a significant increase in people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sexual characteristics (SOGIESC) since 2018.
